Collaboration Is Key

A common request we receive from new customers is to walk them through the design/construction process of a new installation. Let me provide you with an insider’s perspective on the landscape design process, helping you navigate the journey and know what to expect as a new customer. From initial consultations to the final installation and maintenance, let’s explore the steps involved and the collaborative relationship between designer and client.

During the initial consultation, we will discuss your ideas, preferences, and vision for your outdoor space. This is your opportunity to share your inspirations, lifestyle requirements, and aesthetic preferences, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of your design goals.

We will then conduct a thorough assessment of your property, evaluating factors such as sun exposure, soil conditions, drainage, existing vegetation, and topography.  We will craft a design concept that embodies your vision while integrating practical considerations. This concept will include elements such as scaled layout, hardscape features, plant selections, and potential focal points, providing you with a visual representation of the proposed design/project.

Your input is invaluable in refining the design. Together, we will discuss any adjustments or revisions you desire, ensuring that the final design is a true reflection of your vision. Collaboration is key during this stage, as we work together to fine-tune the details and address any concerns or questions you may have.

As the design takes shape, we will discuss material options for hardscape elements such as pathways, patios, and structures. Additionally, we will explore the wide array of native plant options suited to the Pacific Northwest, considering factors like color, texture, seasonal interest, and ecological benefits.

Once the design is finalized, I will create a comprehensive plan and budget that includes plant layout, construction specifications, and any additional details required for implementation. This plan serves as a guide for the installation phase.

The project will then receive a hand-off to a project manager who will oversee the work being done. The project manager will work with you on timeline and crew schedule on site.  As the project unfolds there will be times when you will be needed for approval in plant layout or other site specific questions.

Upon completion of the installation, we will do a final walkthrough with you, ensuring that the design has been executed to your satisfaction. This is an opportunity to discuss any maintenance requirements and provide guidance on caring for your new landscape.

Even after the project is complete, we are here to support you. We can provide guidance on regular maintenance, answer questions, and assist with any future design enhancements or adjustments you may desire.

Our goal is to collaborate with you, the customer, to create a stunning outdoor space that fulfills your dreams and exceeds your expectations. Throughout the design process, expect open communication, opportunities for feedback, and a shared commitment to bringing your vision to life.
